In late 2002, Compaq (now HP) released a unique notebook computer that was ahead of its time named the X1000. The line featured Intel’s new Centrino chipset and the first 15 inch WXUGA display (1920x1200) making it the most advanced notebook computer in the market.
Gentoo Linux was notoriously known for its speed and difficult installation. The X1000’s unique hardware specifications and design presented unique challenges and opportunities.
X1000 Linux was a marriage of these two excellent products.
*Project retired late 2004. The X1000 Website is maintained for archival purposes.

X1000 Linux
A spinoff project from X1000 Linux, WiFi Radar simplified wireless access point management on Linux desktops.
Before WiFi Radar, connecting to a wireless network in all Linux distributions was a tricky console-based dance. This utility streamlined connecting to WiFi access points and introduced simplicity and intelligence to Linux wireless networking.
The project continues to be the 3rd most popular utility on GnomeFiles for the 4th year in a row.
